QVC Christmas Parade Arrives at West Chester

By Alicia Tai and Grace Sweeney

The holiday season is right around the corner, which means the annual Old-Fashioned West Chester Christmas Parade will be taking place in the West Chester Borough. The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce will be hosting this festive parade sponsored by QVC on November 30, 2018. This yearly event includes three segments: the Jingle Elf Run at 6:30pm, the parade at 7:15pm, and the Holiday Village from 5pm to 9pm.

The Holiday Village will provide welcoming, free refreshments and activities, including treats, hot chocolate, face painting, and photo ops, accompanied by holiday music. Sponsors and community business tents will host these festivities along High Street, from Gay and Market Street.

To kick off the festivities, you will be able to enjoy the spectacle of numerous runners dressed as elves race for a cash prize on Market Street between High and Walnut Streets. The 10th Annual Jingle Elf Run consists of a two-mile run, a one-mile walk, and two children’s races. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in the two-mile run. Contestants with the most creative holiday outfit will also be rewarded with a cash prize as the best-dressed elf.

As the pinnacle of this celebration, the Christmas Parade will have more than 4,000 participants and 35,000 spectators. Twenty-three high school marching bands, including Henderson’s, will compete in front of a panel of expert judges to have a chance at winning a portion of more than 5,500 dollars. Local schools, businesses, volunteer fire companies, and other service organizations will join the many marching bands, floats, and antique vehicles. This celebration will also be accompanied by QVC hosts Carolyn Gracie and Dan Hughes, along with 6abc’s Adam Joseph. They will introduce speakers, entertainers, and volunteers for the entire night. QVC will broadcast this highly anticipated parade live, on-site, with updates. They will also film the highlights and broadcast them on Christmas Day.

Enjoy the various events in West Chester on Friday the 30th of November and celebrate the holidays with your family and friends!
